i so lucky to know this family.  karly is first grade with kate and joe.  her parents adopted her when she was 18 months old and saved her from such a hard life.  the life they have given her is so full of love and so much goodness.  they are her miracle, as she is theirs.  and now, after years of trying, they have been blessed again with a baby of their own.

sweet william.

this house is so full of love.  and now a family fully complete.

her

went out back the other day with a jar of glitter.  didn't get the photos i was looking for exactly.  but the side effect was better then expected.  it made her very happy.  happy is good.

this is what our february looked like.

at the first of the year i decided that in addition to the 52 portraits each project i was also going to work harder at taking more photos of my kids and post them once a month.  so when deb asked me to be a part of the 'what_looks like project' it seemed like a perfect fit.

i am really so honored to be part of such a great group of photographers.  there’s a circle of 12 photographers participating in the what ____ looks like monthly project.  i hope you’ll check them all out [clicking link to link].

I had the pleasure of spending my Saturday morning with this sweet family.  To have the opportunity to document a family's life--to have a glimse into this special time, the home they have made together, the relationships they share.  Well, there is nothing quite like it.

a wallflower friend

this is sweet wendy hiller, a wallflower friend, and her beautiful family.  deb and i had the pleasure of having wendy join us at our retreat in sundance, UT last fall.  she is the best example of what we love most about wallflower friends -- the amazing people we meet, the new and lasting friendships we make.  and it was such a joy to now meet wendy's family.

you'll notice an extra brother in one of the shots...he isn't a brother at all, but rather a foreign exchange student. they were here in california to explore and share--another testament to what an awesome family they are! i am so glad we had this opportunity to get-together and grateful for their trust in me to photograph their family this year.

AND...

it just so happens we opened registration for next year's wallflower friend's spring retreat.  we are so excited to be heading to northern california for this one--and we booked the entire seal cove inn...just for us. it's going to be spectactular so don't miss out!  register early as seats are quickly filling.  we are also toying with the idea of going to australia next november.  if interested in wallflower friends coming to australia, be sure and let us know!
